President’s message 2010
I am extremely proud to announce that from 12 until 18 July 2010 the Windmill Cup will be held in Leeuwarden for the twentieth time at tennis centre “De Molen “.
For a couple of reasons this tournament will be a memorable one:
In the first place because it is a jubilee year that of course calls for a celebration but also it will be the final year that host families will play an active role in the event.
The ITF Board of directors recently decided to prohibit tournaments from using private housing. However with the great help of KNLTB our request for an exception for this special year has been accepted. We have always been convinced that the host families are committed to our tournament and have a very positive influence on the participants.
As a consequence of Tennis Europe’s newly implemented Junior Tour Digitalisation Project the entries and withdrawal procedure is bound to change significantly. With the computer of Tennis Europe players will be able to enter the tournament of their choice via a unique IPIN code. We are confident that this new acceptance system will work and will save the tournaments a lot of work.
As a consequence of this newly implemented system The Windmill Cup Carl Gantois this year will organise a qualification round that will be played on 10 and 11 July.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all, the sponsors, the organising committee, the host families and the hundreds of volunteers who, over the past 20 years, have spent so much time and work on making this tournament the success that it is today.
I welcome all of you, players, coaches and visitors, in week 28 in Leeuwarden at “The Friendly Tournament “.
Yours sincerely,
Windmill Cup Foundation
